Project Background

The New South Wales (NSW) Ministry of Health sought to prepare a Strategic Concept Master Plan for the former Gladesville Hospital Campus.

Our Services

Advisian prepared the Strategic Concept Master Plan which provided a tactical planning and development approval pathway for the site to realize its potential for appropriate adaptive reuses. It responded to and facilitated the opportunities for the adaptive reuse of its heritage and landscape elements; at the same time it identified its capacity to be part of the future development of lands within its context and setting.

Results

The Strategic Concept Master Plan provided the direction and set priorities for ongoing planning and development of the site. It made recommendations for:

  • The possible uses given the configuration of many of the heritage buildings
  • The three dimensional physical organization of new and old buildings, the gardens and landscape setting
  • The maintenance, accessibility, sustainability and on-going management
