Project Background

The Tubular Bells deepwater oil and gas field was discovered in 2003 and lies in approximately 4,300 feet of water, 135 miles southeast of New Orleans in Mississippi Canyon Blocks 724, 725 and 726.

The project was sanctioned in 2011 and fast-tracked with an execution schedule to first oil in just three years.

Our Services

INTECSEA’s SURF scope of services for the project included everything from field development planning to construction/installation management and start up and pre commissioning. The team specifically excelled in the areas of SURF installation and construction, and survey/geo-technical capabilities, which have historically been unique strengths of INTECSEA. The extent of INTECSEA’s expertise in offshore construction was clearly demonstrated through all design and field installation activities for the project.

Key Outcomes

The project reached first oil in November 2014 and was a fantastic achievement for Hess, who recently renewed focus on ultra-deepwater exploration and development. The project outcomes are characterized by a stand out safety performance, a flexible design to accommodate evolving field data and expansions,  the successful installation of large complex three dimensional jumper and  key in-field support for operations handover .
