Utilities Sector Lead, SEA & China
Alan Yau is Advisian’s Singapore Branch Director, and Utilities Sector Lead for South East Asia and China. He is responsible for spearheading the expansion of Advisian’s frontend advisory and consulting business in Southeast Asia with a strong focus on the power sector. He has more than 20 years of experience in China in the Infrastructure, Water/Waste-Water Treatment, Energy (fossil & renewable), Facilities Management, Township Development and Marine Engineering sectors. He is an accomplished executive with experience in operations, finance, strategic marketing, business expansion, project development, shareholders relations and human resources. Being a persuasive and tenacious leader with a proven track record in achieving positive business results by developing strategic business alliances, identifying new markets and developing business processes, Alan has built an extensive network with key stakeholders in many sectors and provinces in China.
From early-2011 to end-2015 Alan held the role of Chief Executive Officer, Sembcorp China Holding Ltd., where he oversaw the operation of a fleet of 27 utilities companies, including water/waste-water treatment plants, gas-fired co-generation plant, coal-fired power plant and wind farms. He also sat on the Board of a few Township Development and Marine Engineering companies, in China. Alan was instrumental in growing Sembcorp China’s net profit from S$9 million in 2010 to S$100 million in 2015. He helped to cement strong relationship with local partners and Government officials, and led the team to resolve many difficult situations and conflicts, to achieve positive results.
Alan holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from University of Oregon and a Master of Science Degree from National University of Singapore.
