Karen Weitemeyer is a geophysicist with over 10 years of experience in the application of marine electromagnetic (EM) methods, both controlled source electromagnetic (CSEM) and magnetotelluric (MT) methods to map marine gas hydrates. Karen has worked in the USA, UK, Australia and Canada. Her field work has taken her to the Gulf of Mexico, North Sea, Arctic, Indian and Pacific Oceans. She has collected land MT data and taught exploration geophysics (gravity, magnetics, resistivity, borehole, GPR) to undergraduate students. Karen has advised on research projects covering EM modelling of seafloor massive sulfide deposits, offshore groundwater, carbon sequestration, and magnetic studies of hydrothermal vents.
